Basic Course of Chronic Hepatitis C and HIV/HCV Coinfection Management

Basic Course of Chronic Hepatitis C Management is an educational attempt designed for expanding the reach in hepatitis C management with focus on internist in Indonesia. An uneven distribution of knowledge on hepatitis C management possibly lead to incapable of providing proper treatment meeting high prevalence of hepatitis C is the main stating point of this programme.

This programme will train internists to provide appropriate treatment for hepatitis C patients with special cases of HIV/HCV coinfection in special population.Through this training course programme, participants will be trained to fully understand the management of hepatitis C from epidemiology and disease progression to treatment and patient education, with addition of HIV/HCV coinfection management. This training course will be consists of class lecture and case discussion with introduction to online sharing experience. Our plan is to provide a continuous education to produce capable internists in treating hepatitis C to expand the reach of hepatitis C management in Indonesia.

Therefore, Indonesian Association for the Study of the Liver (Ina ASL) propose a proposal grant to International Coalition of Hepatology Education Providers (IC-HEP)  to provide training program in 4 provinces of Western and Central Indonesia, which is Lampung (Lampung Province), Padang (West Sumatera Province), Palembang (South Sumatera Province), and Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan Province). With target participants between 20-30 internists per training course. There is pre-post test conducted at the end of each session to evaluate participants knowledge and capability in management of hepatitis C. Two types of certification will be given: certificate of attendance and credit points according to the decree of Indonesian Doctor Association and certificate of completion of training published by Ina-ASL of which require participants attendance and correct answer ≥ 80% in each session test. And we are pleased that IC-HEP has been approved the proposal grant under the IC-HEP initiative.
